Cage & Fish hire a new bombshell attorney, Nelle Porter, featured in "Boston" Magazine & nicknamed "Sub-Zero" for her sensitivity, or lack thereof. Though the women don't seem particularly thrilled with her, Cage's heart goes "boom!" at the sight of her... Renee is beaten in court, and Ally gently refuses Jason's gestures after a wondeful date in Fenway Park. Overall, the premiere predicts a remarkable second season. --

"Love Unlimited" - AM - 212
Orig. air date: 01/18/99
-- Ling files a lawsuit against the environment and shows Fish that finger-sucking has its pluses over sex. Ally nails Stanley Goodman, a father of two & wanting to annul his marriage claiming "sexual obessive-compulsive" behaviour, with her greatest closing argument to date: "People fall in love for all sorts of insanities and we don't legislate the reasons. But once they take vows... and once they start having kids, we take that seriously, and we call it an institution. And for this man to be running around vaccinating any woman he can convince to play doctor; for this man to indulge his little affliction at the expense of his wife AND his children; for this man to skirt financial and moral responsibility because he found a scuzzy laywer and a scuzzier shrink to pronounce him disabled; for this man to say that he's addicted to love, addicted to sex, addicted to infidelity, lying and cheating; for this man to come in here parading his penis like it should qualify for handicapped parking - how dare you subject this woman to this embarrassment? How dare you subject your kids to it? How dare you live, you giant ASS???" - and the courtroom erupts in applause. Cage comes face to face with his fantasy of Nelle naked but chickens out at the last minute. Nelle tells him there is another woman, someone who "gets him" better than she, but "judging by the look on her face lately, you might be too late..." The two carry out the lawsuit, and win, but the drugs don’t get to Eric in time, and he dies. Ling acts untouched in the hospital, but outside the building she weeps in solitude. Ally, having previously told Eric about seeing a blimp after her little sister died and taking it as a sign from God, sees a blimp on the way home – a secret present from Ling. In court, Cage & Fish defend a man named Harvey Kent pleading manslaughter after shooting at his wife’s lover – and NOT killing him.
